The kind of pony everyone is always looking for.
Tater Tot packs a whole lot of horse into a fun size package. He is fancy broke, versatile, experienced, and just as enjoyable to have in the barn as he is to ride.
Tater Tot comes from a western pleasure background, where he was used in a youth lesson program and shown in western pleasure and showmanship. Since then, he has continued to prove just how versatile he really is. He has been ridden on the ranch, gathered and sorted cattle, roped the sled, worked gates, tackled trail obstacles, ridden English, and has even been started over fences.
Currently, Tater Tot is being ridden and shown by a 12 year old girl in the ranch classes, and the two are excelling together. At his most recent horse show, he won the Open Ranch Pleasure out of 19 horses. He has quickly proven that he can step into the ranch classes and be competitive against the big horses, all while being successfully shown by his young rider.
He is beautifully broke with all the buttons. Tater Tot has an incredibly smooth jog, a comfortable rocking chair lope, correct spins, a great stop, side passes, and rides around one handed on a draped rein. He is soft, responsive, and genuinely fun to ride.
In the show pen, he continues to impress. Tater Tot has experience in western pleasure, showmanship, ranch pleasure, and ranch riding. He has the movement, training, and presence to be competitive while still being versatile enough to go home and do just about anything you ask of him.
Outside of the arena, he is just as enjoyable. He will trail ride alone or in a group, lead or follow, cross water, navigate rough terrain, and come home on a loose rein. Tater Tot also showed at the NJ State Fair, where he handled the full fair atmosphere like a seasoned veteran. Kids everywhere, Ferris wheels, carnival rides, crowds, noise, traffic, and commotion never fazed him. Add that to his exposure to motorcycles, bicycles, barking dogs, tarps, gunfire, livestock, wildlife, and everyday chaos, and this is a pony that has truly seen a little bit of everything.
His personality is another thing that makes him so easy to love. Tater Tot enjoys attention, meets you at the gate, loves being groomed, and will happily follow you around like a puppy. He has excellent ground manners, ground ties, and is simply an enjoyable pony to have around.
