“Sham” is an 8-year-old sorrel Quarter Pony standing 12.2 hands tall. This pony has been hauled to the Jr. rodeos with us, ridden all over outside, and used to track the sled and calves. He goes through the barrels and poles nicely at whatever speed you ask, but isn’t necessarily automatic. He’s also been used a little in goat tying, and saylor has taken him outside to gather cattle.
He trots out great and keeps right up with the big horses. He’s quiet, great-minded, never gets fresh or sour, and is always a pleasure to be around. This is a pony that enjoys the kids and will literally tolerate anything. He short lopes both ways, rides one-handed, and saylor has even taught him to lay down.
Sham just has the mindset you want when getting your kids a pony to learn on. He will build confidence and raise a horseman.
