Home raised, beautiful, and kind-hearted wrapped up in a large 15.3hh coal black package. “Duke” is the most sweet natured horse around. He has the soft, kind eye and the aim to please mind. Duke has a striking jaw dropping presence. People that come to our place cannot help but stop and take a second (and third) look at him. This big boy has a massive tail that reaches the ground, a perfect star on his forehead, and impeccable conformation.
Duke is a gelding that is far beyond his years and always has been that way. He has a very mature mind and has wanted to be broke from the very beginning. Duke has been Jared’s personal, main mount to help with the ranch chores. If we need to go catch some cows, Duke gets the call. If we need to sort through stock, Duke gets the call. If we need to halter break some colts, Duke gets the call. This guy is big and strong and knows how to use himself. The chaos that ranch chores can bring is of no concern for him. They do not come better minded.
Duke (Dukester, Dukess) sure is handy on the ranch, but he will really catch ones’ attention in the arena. This boy is a beautiful mover! He rides soft in the bridle and stays level headed. He can get his rear end in the ground and can turn around pretty good for a big boy! Man oh man does he ride fancy in english tack! Duke will be soft and responsive in the bridle and his body. We are so trustworthy with this guy that we let our little sixty pound niece ride him.
If a steady trail mount is your jam, Duke will be your guy. He will take care of his rider and he is smooth no matter the terrain. Duke will cross creeks mindful of his steps or go right into the big deep water. This gelding has no issue riding out alone or in a group. With him being a bigger guy, we did train him to side-pass to any obstacle to make mounting a breeze. This is a genuine good boy that we are so proud of. We have had him his whole life and have all the confidence that he will be one to put a smile on your face every day.
