Dill Pickle is a gorgeous 11-year-old bay gelding standing 14.3 hands tall, and he has the kind of presence that makes you look twice. He is stout-made, shapey, and exceptionally eye-catching, with plenty of bone, substance, and that flashy bay color that only gets prettier the longer you look at him. He has the size that makes him handy and easy to get along with, yet enough shape and substance underneath you to comfortably carry just about anyone.
Dill Pickle is the kind of gelding everyone seems to be searching for and so few truly are. He is safe, seasoned, extensively shown, ranch experienced, family proven, incredibly broke, and about as sweet as they come. He has proven himself in more roles than most horses ever get the opportunity to experience. from the show pen to the lesson program, quiet trail rides to real ranch and feedlot work—and he approaches every job with the same willing, dependable attitude.
Dill Pickle has the experience and seasoning that simply cannot be taught overnight. He has been part of our family and program, where he has given lessons and taken care of riders of different ages and experience levels. He absolutely adores children and is one of those special horses that seems to understand when someone needs him to slow down, be patient, and take care of them.
He is a true confidence builder—forgiving without being dull, dependable without being lazy, and broke enough to help his rider instead of requiring his rider to constantly help him. He gives nervous and inexperienced riders the opportunity to relax, gain confidence, and actually enjoy their horse.
Dill Pickle has been shown extensively in the all-around and knows his way around the show pen. He is well versed in Showmanship, the Ranch classes, and English, and will even slow way down for the Western Pleasure. The kids have taken him through the barrels and poles at fun and open shows, played around in the flag races, and simply enjoyed him. He may have plenty of polish when it’s time to walk into the show pen, but he’s just as happy letting the kids grab the reins and go have some fun.
He is a super nice mover with comfortable, attractive gaits and a natural way of carrying himself. He is easy to keep in shape and doesn’t require endless tuning to stay riding nice.
He’ll stay soft, collected, and up in the bridle, giving you that polished look in the show pen without making you work for every stride.
He knows his job.

Dill Pickle is seasoned to being hauled and has seen all the commotion that comes with busy show environments—warm-up pens, spectators, other horses, noise, traffic, and activity. He has the seasoning that only comes from actually going places, being hauled, and performing away from home.
He is light in your hands, responsive to your seat and legs, and rides with a true one-hand neck rein. In fact, he’s so soft and responsive that he rides just as well bridleless.
When you sit down and ask him for a big stop, he’ll give you one. If you don’t need anything fancy, simply say “whoa,” and he’s there.
He isn’t a horse you have to pull on or constantly remind.
He listens.
He side passes, moves off leg pressure, and has the buttons an experienced rider will appreciate, while still being forgiving and uncomplicated enough for a less experienced rider to enjoy.

He has also been used for real ranch and feedlot work in Montana and Iowa whenever he was needed. He has pushed cattle, sorted pairs, checked pastures, had a rope thrown off him, and knows what an honest day’s work looks like.
He has experienced real work, real country, different riders, different environments, and different jobs.
One day he can be collected and pretty in the show pen.
The next, he can go outside and be useful.
Real versatility isn’t taught in one arena — it’s earned everywhere outside of it. And Dill Pickle has spent his lifetime earning his.
Outside the arena, Dill Pickle is an experienced and dependable trail horse. He is confident and sure-footed, crosses water, travels through brush, steps over logs, handles ditches, and navigates hills and rougher terrain.
He has been ridden alone and in groups and is comfortable either way.
New surroundings don’t easily rattle him, and he has enough miles underneath him to understand that his job is simply to go where you point him.
Dill Pickle has been part of our family and lesson program, and that means more to us than simply calling a horse “safe.”
We’ve watched him take care of riders.
We’ve watched him help people learn.
We’ve watched him give riders confidence.
And we’ve watched how much he genuinely adores children.

His ground manners are excellent. He leads, loads, ties, saddles, bridles, bathes, and stands quietly to be groomed and handled. He stands well for the farrier and is simply an enjoyable horse to have around the barn.
