Let me introduce you to an absolute unicorn of a gelding. Chico is 9 years old and stands a solid 14.2 hands tall. He has the bone and substance to last a lifetime.
Chico started his riding career in a professional setting, with a cow horse trainer, and was in training for 2 years. Since then he has been piloted by two boys under the age of 12. They have done everything on Chico, from swimming in the pond, catching wild cattle, riding double and taking him to the weekly ropings. He is easy for them to handle on their own. They can catch, saddle and groom Chico with no problems.
He is great out on the trails. He doesn’t need a buddy to go with him either! He navigates through brush, over logs and through creeks with no issues. If you are looking for a horse to build your confidence horseback, he’s the one!
He’s almost been used to gather, sort and pen cattle. He knows what a days work is and he never says no.
Chico lopes circles both directions correctly, he stays in your hands and doesn’t push on the bridle. He has a nice stop with just the word “whoa” and a great turn around.
Whether you ride everyday or once or twice a year Chico stays broke and gentle.
When taken to new places he unloads off the trailer and acts as if he’s been there a dozen times before. He does not get excited over what’s going on around him.
In the barn Chico is easy to deal with. He can either stay in the stall or be turned out with other horses. He doesn’t cause any fuss and minds his business.
He stands to be groomed and bathed patiently. He also stands quietly for the farrier.
Simply put Chico doesn’t require an owners manual, and he is the same whether you are advanced or not! Chico sells completely sound and up to date on all farrier and dental needs.
