Crystal is a Smokey Valley Horse, which is a modern recreation of America’s historic smooth gaited traveling horse, bred for effortless, ground-covering comfort over long distances. Her natural four-beat gaits (including a running walk and rack) deliver that famous “magic carpet ride” that you get even at varying speeds, with no jarring trot or pace to interrupt your ride. This means miles of trail riding without the fatigue that comes from posting or enduring rougher movements that you would get from other breeds.

Crystal recently returned from three months in the rugged desert trails of Arizona, where she added valuable experience to her already impressive resume. She handled the challenging terrain like a pro, often serving as the mount of choice for Dr. Bob Coleman, owner of Smokey Valley Farms. The trails out in Arizona that would test most horses were simply a walk in the park for her, proving her sure-footedness, stamina, and willingness every step of the way.

Anywhere you take Crystal, she grabs the attention and steals the spotlight with her long, flowing mane and tail! If you want flashy, she’s the definition!
Crystal is forward and responsive, moving willingly off light cues and stopping on a dime when asked. That said, she is straightforward and honest to ride and does not require an advanced rider, but an intermediate rider with good hands and a solid, independent seat, ideally someone with experience riding gaited horses who is confident and can keep her balanced in her natural gait.
She would be an absolute dream for a kid or little girl looking for that perfect step-up trail horse. With her flashy looks and forward drive, she offers more “go” than your typical trail horses, but because of her kind nature, you’ll still feel in control and confident in the saddle. She has solid experience in the show ring from our local gaited horse shows and youth classes, so she’s ready to hit the trails or the arena with her new rider.
