Meet Sterling, a handsome 5 year old Quarter Horse gelding standing right at 15 hands. Sterling is the kind of horse that quickly becomes everyone's favorite around the barn. He has an incredibly kind, people loving personality and will walk right up to you in a pasture full of horses, no grain bucket required. More than once, we've watched him leave a herd of grazing horses just to come rest his nose against someone's shoulder, hoping for a scratch. He genuinely enjoys being around people and is always happy to soak up attention. Whether you're brushing him, braiding him, or simply spending time with him, he'll stand quietly for as long as you'd like, often lowering his head and looking like he could drift off to sleep from the attention. His calm, easygoing demeanor makes him a pleasure to have around every day.
On the ground, Sterling has excellent manners. He leads quietly, stands patiently for grooming, tacking, and baths, and is respectful and easy to handle in every situation. He is accustomed to both stall life and pasture turnout and gets along well with other horses, naturally falling lower in the pecking order and avoiding trouble.
Under saddle, Sterling is a very well broke young gelding with the kind of foundation that makes him enjoyable for a wide variety of riders. He neck reins nicely, has a dependable stop, and carries himself with a relaxed, level head at the trot. He lopes off willingly, catches both leads, and rides around in smooth, easy circles for a comfortable, uncomplicated ride. He's the type of horse you can simply saddle up and enjoy. Sterling is confident enough to carry a flag without hesitation, and he's quiet and trustworthy enough that you can stand and crawl all over him. His naturally calm and patient nature ensures he’s a reliable partner in any situation.
Outside the arena, he is just as solid. He is happy to lead a trail ride or quietly follow along with a group, always traveling on a loose rein. He confidently crosses logs, water, tall grass, brush, and uneven terrain, handling hills with ease and staying relaxed wherever you point him. Around the farm, he has helped gather goats and cattle and has had a rope swung and thrown from his back without concern.
Sterling has also been ridden under English tack and has the movement and attitude to excel in either English or Western disciplines, making him a versatile partner for someone wanting a horse they can enjoy in multiple settings.
For additional peace of mind, Sterling completed a full health and wellness examination on June 1, 2026, and he sells with a current negative Coggins test and a rabies vaccination. He is healthy, sound, and ready for his next home.
Sterling is truly the kind of horse we enjoy having around our farm every day. His gentle personality, solid training, and willing attitude make him a horse that's easy to appreciate whether you're riding, grooming, or simply spending time with him. He's one in the barn everyone seems to gravitate toward, the horse quietly waiting at the gate with bright eyes and a friendly expression. We are happy to answer any questions and help serious buyers determine if he is the right fit. Shipping can be arranged anywhere in the United States.
