Checkers is a 12-year-old, 15.2hh Paint gelding with a calm, easy-going personality and a kind eye to match. He’s the type of horse that’s always a pleasure to be around, quiet on the ground, respectful of space, and enjoys attention. Whether you’re looking for a horse to enjoy the trails, ride in the arena, or continue developing for English or Western disciplines, Checkers has the foundation and temperament to go in just about any direction. In the arena, Checkers walk-trot-lopes on a loose rein with smooth transitions, a nice stop, and a collected reverse. He’s been ridden both English and Western, and with his floaty, soft movement and balanced gaits, he’s an excellent candidate for someone looking to continue him in English, he really catches the eye moving around the arena. He’s responsive without being too forward and has a willing attitude that makes him a great match for confident riders who want a horse that’s enjoyable to ride and work with. Out on the trail, Checkers goes where you want and has lots of stamina. He’s been ridden through parks, around town, and out on open trails. He’ll go out alone or in a group without fuss, and he handles trail obstacles with ease. He’s sure-footed, calm in new environments, and doesn’t get rattled by activity around him, he’s been exposed to a lot and takes it all in stride. Checkers hauls and loads with no issues and gets along well with other horses in turnout or when riding out.
